Heron's Wood: Carraigaline, Co Cork. When will these houses be allocated?

Sick of waiting! Although we were told by the bank to contact solicitor as if our cheque is cashed b4 Thurs our 1st mortgage payment is the start of May. So we aren't cashing it until after that day. We were told it will be more than likely next week now that we will get keys! WOOHOO

Looks like you'll all be in within next few weeks. Congrats. Anyone moving into Ravensdale on here?

My brother lives down there and he's informed me that a couple of houses in the new part are moved into already so that must be good news for rest of you.

I'm moving to Ravensdale. My solicitor told me everything should be wrapped up this time next week. Can't wait!
As I've said before, seeing as though this is a site about helping pinch the pennies... I have a friend coming around about a week after we get our keys (did I mention I cant wait?) who does everything from tiling, wooden floors (inlcuding attics) and is very reasonably priced and highly professional. If you've read some of my early posts you'll know my profession which should indicate I wouldn't recommend this kind of person easily. Anyway, for any of you moving into an end of terrace who don't have a hole for sink drainage in downstairs loo or hole for expellair in the kitchen, this is your man. If you want holes of that size done properly it requires specialised equipment and he has it. Hope this helps!

i contacted my solicitor today, who said he was just waiting to receive word from the council solicitor to organise lodgement of the cheque. once this happens he said it wold be a matter of days before we get the keys, but he had no definite date as to when the councils solicitor would be in touch with him to organise it. he said he'd give them to the end of the week, and if he hasn't heard anything he would contact them again.

I wish they would just get a move on. i know we are talking a matter of days now, but the wait is driving me spare!!
 
I got a letter from my solicitor dated May 1st today saying the folowing
" I have spoken to the solicitor for the County Council and would anticipate a completion date in or around two weeks from todays date (May 1st), I will revert to you as soon as I have an exact completion date for you"... Bugger!
 
We were told probably next week, so it has to be by next Friday anyway! What has everyone done about engineers? I am still unsure whether to get one or not ??

hey all, i only signed my deeds etc yesterday but im glad to have recieved some sort of contact! i am so delighted its all coming together for everyone! my solicitor told me the council are extremely eager to get everything closed off completely by the first of june but that we should have the keys in the next two weeks! its exciting stuff!!!she did suggest an engineer to me also, but i reckon the councils reports should be sufficient. does nayone know do we recieve a copy of thier reports? cant believe its only afew weeks away at this stage! :)

i am absolutely not getting an engineer and heres the reason......
when i went to my solictor in tuesday to sign papers she said she legally has to advise me to get an engineer but she wouldnt bother in my case because since the council have snagged them already they are not going to entertain anything the engineer says
secondly she said one of her other clients who also got an affordable house in ravensdale got an engineer who said the house was really well built and could only find very minor problems eg a door not closing properly . i think that as long as the houses are structurally sound we should be ok and if my neighbours house is good i figure the same builders built mine and i simply cant waste more money on an engineer
i know others wont agree with me but.........

I decided against the engineer also. I suppose its a personal choice!!! Any-one hear any more developments/updates? I'm hoping to get keys this week.
 
Any one get the keys yet?? i have been up in herons wood and saw that a few have moved in and def one affordable house( it had the number on the window) so i know they are moved in!? anyone else? i seem to be just waiting on the council solicitors??
 
No but I cannot wait any longer at this stage!!! Last I heard was our closing docs were sent to our solicitor recently. Would love keys today or tomor but it will be next week so I would think at this stage, would ye reckon???
 
I've been told the same as Blossy by my solicitor, that they are waiting on the County Council Solicitor to finalise everything. Would love to get keys and just get cracking on doing the work to make it possible to live in. Anyone in the same situation as me... Loads of furniture collected over the years and if I dont get the keys before June am up the creek as am out of rented house with no where to store the stuff?
 
I reckon we'll all have keys next week, going by my solicitor anyway. We were told the same as ye're solicitors, got a call to say they are waiting on the council but closing docs will be in the post next week.
 
hey bobdnagler, im the same as u, i left my rented accom weeks ago!!! am living with a buddy for the moment, in thier spare room! i have bits of me everywhere haha!! seriously am storing everything in friends houses! :) its crazy times but will all be worth it! they will wash thier hands of us for definite over the next two weeks...that is until we try and sell and dollar signs reappear in the councils eyes haha!! $$$$
 
No such luck! My solicitor rang me on Friday just to say they are still waiting to hear back from the council solicitor. She said they will hopefully have news at the start of the week. Am getting really twitchy....want it all yesterday!
 
We got our solictors bill on Friday morning, they have asked us to pay at the earliest as they feel that completion is close, they have basically said they want to close as soon as they can.
