How has the recession affected you?

Thankfully no jobs losses or pay cuts. The only debt we have is our mortgage and we kept the repayments the same as pre rate cuts so hopefully have knocked a few years off the term. We can afford to live on one salary should it come to it...but we bought with that in mind. We have also focused...

Key Post Avoid M50 Penalty Charges - Get a Video Account

I set up a video account when the barriers came down and have both our cars on the 1 account. I'd only use the M50 maybe 4 times a month and OH uses it less. We fly quite a bit so handy for airport trips. They send me a statement via email each month and I haven't had any problems with them at all.

    Oslo, Norway for Dec 2010

We flew Dublin-Torp with Ryanair last month. The flights cost €230 for two of us. The bus transfer took 1.5hrs each way and about €35pp return, so factor that in your costs. We found Oslo quite expensive in general. €15 for a Burger King meal and about €8 for a 400ml glass of beer, so bring...

How much experience to hire a crusier boat?

We've done this twice in recent years on the 3 berth "Emerald Star" cruisers, which are the smallest in their fleet. The cruising itself is easy enough but going through locks and mooring involves a bit of nimbleness.. one person would need to be confident enough to make their way to the bow...

    Dublin to South Africa

Slattery travel have direct flights at certain times of the year to Capetown. I think from November to March, though open to correction. Try www.skyscanner.com or ebookers.ie. We flew with BA 2 years ago via Heathrow which was the cheapest at the time. You could also give Trailfinders a call...

    Med Cruises - any experience?

Thinking of going on a Med cruise with Royal Caribbean. Just wondering if anyone has experience of Med cruises and what to expect especially in terms of age group. (Mid 30's so don't want to be the stuck with a load of OAP's:D) Usually go on "backpacker" type holidays so the main appeal is...
