We have got rid of the "Reply" and "Quote" buttons

FWIW I like the new arrangement once I got over the loss of the Reply and Quote buttons. ;)

The only gotcha that I've noticed so far is that it's not possible (or maybe just not easy?) to quote a post that contains only a URL (maybe just on mobile?) as when you select it the browser pops up its context menu.

Buttons are not clutter.

But I guess this how we ended up with touch screens instead of buttons in cars, Tesla with no indicator stalk and reverse is a slider on a screen.

Office ribbon and apps where it's only shows you buttons for where you are, but you don't know where to go without the buttons.

In glass fingerprint sensors on mobile phones which don't work.

But don't quote me on that....

Tbh I have no preference, but it's not consistent with other sites if having a common lexicon is of interest.

Me apparently

The problem is that when you hit the button it quotes the entire post and this is clutter.

On other forms locking what can be quoted is used to prevent people editing posts to mispresent. Note you can quote as many times you like and edit it.
