I'm the same as you
@ToFixorNotToFix in that last week I submitted a receipt that had multiple blood tests and an x-ray on it and the processing time is ~5 weeks from the date of submission.
I called LAYA to see what the story is, because last week I helped my sister to submit a few receipts to VHI and these were processed within a week. The agent I was talking to said that since around November or December of last year - which is when most of their customers renew their policies - a lot of "older" people submitted ALL their receipts for last year around then, so the claims department are snowed under, and they are still working their way through these. The agent said they were at a meeting about this last week and they were told that by around the 2nd week of April, they should be back on top of the receipts and a quicker processing time should be noticed by everybody who submits a receipt.
I mentioned that there were some people (on this forum) who reported getting their receipts processed within 24 or 48 hours, in this year, so if there is a back log, how come these got processed so quick. He said that they use a "bot" to process some claims and others are processed by humans and there's no logic behind which claims are processed by the "bot", and which are manually processed. I asked him if this was something new or if it was always in place and he said it was always in place.
I then asked him (as somebody mentioned earlier) that since they merged with AXA that things seem to have slowed down, but he said that that has nothing to do with processing speed; that's purely down to the volume of claims that they are processing. The only change for them (LAYA) was that they had a new General Manager - other than that, nothing has changed.
So that's what I was told. Hopefully by mid-April they'll be on top of receipts.
BTW, I uploaded another GP receipt after I spoke to the agent and the processing date that's given for that is May 1
