Health Insurance LAYA taking a lot longer to process day to day medical claims than before?

Well now my claim submitted about 3 or more weeks ago was just processed and as I said initially the only time I ever encountered delays was when they were going to refuse something and sure enough they rejected part of my claim. Lesson to self, get generic receipt from doc!

In June last year I paid €1546.13 for Inspire Plus
If I was to renew on the first of March it would be €1632.94
So I'm presuming in June this policy will cost €1740.71
But it says an average of 6.6% so it could be more
They used to say a good policy was in and around the €1500 mark,
But I'm guessing now that's going to be in and around the €2k mark in the next year or two

I put 7 different general normal claims in at different times over the last 3 weeks. Each claim is being assigned a date to be processed by a month out from when the claim was submitted. These ae generally claims, GP, visits etc. I'm a new Laya customer coming form Irish life and this is not what I'm used to. Not good.

I feel I have to post as Mrs C has just informed me of her latest claim on the 28th of January
Note on her Laya account "to be processed by 3rd march"
Mrs C informed me yesterday afternoon that she got an email from Laya to say that this claim was now settled
So four weeks and two days compared to my last few claims which were in and around the 24 hour mark!!

I submitted a claim on Friday 28th Feb which says 'processed and paid' on Tuesday 4th March. However, it hasn't arrived in my bank account yet, which is very unusual. I'll raise a query if it's not there by tomorrow.

Earlier in this thread I reported a positive LAYA experience, but there's definitely been a slowing down in recent weeks.

I submitted a trivial claim (€30) a week ago and got an email confirming it had been paid last Monday, but it still hasn't appeared in my bank account.
These low-level payments are processed by AI without human intervention, so either there's a bug in the system, or LAYA must have introduced a policy of slowing the payments down.

Agreed. Mine "paid" 4th March has still not arrived. Is your destination bank also AIB? I emailed them this morning querying the delay.

Laya just responded to my query by email:
Dear X,

Thank you for your E-mail.

There is currently an issue with all claim payments processed on the 3rd and 4th of this Month.

We are hoping to have all payments reissued today so you should expect to have your payment in your account early next week.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Similar here. Used always find Laya paid out claims very quick - within a day or two. I submitted four claims on 25th February (multiple hospital tests and a consultant visit all on one day) and was given a timeline of 22 working days. Still not had an update and site says March 31st. Ridiculous. I wouldn't mind so much but I'm unsure if all the tests will be refunded so I know I'm getting back something between €125 and €425. Would be bloody handy to know, especially as I'm back to doc today for a follow up consult and don't know how much is due to the kitty!

I'm the same as you @ToFixorNotToFix in that last week I submitted a receipt that had multiple blood tests and an x-ray on it and the processing time is ~5 weeks from the date of submission.

I called LAYA to see what the story is, because last week I helped my sister to submit a few receipts to VHI and these were processed within a week. The agent I was talking to said that since around November or December of last year - which is when most of their customers renew their policies - a lot of "older" people submitted ALL their receipts for last year around then, so the claims department are snowed under, and they are still working their way through these. The agent said they were at a meeting about this last week and they were told that by around the 2nd week of April, they should be back on top of the receipts and a quicker processing time should be noticed by everybody who submits a receipt.

I mentioned that there were some people (on this forum) who reported getting their receipts processed within 24 or 48 hours, in this year, so if there is a back log, how come these got processed so quick. He said that they use a "bot" to process some claims and others are processed by humans and there's no logic behind which claims are processed by the "bot", and which are manually processed. I asked him if this was something new or if it was always in place and he said it was always in place.

I then asked him (as somebody mentioned earlier) that since they merged with AXA that things seem to have slowed down, but he said that that has nothing to do with processing speed; that's purely down to the volume of claims that they are processing. The only change for them (LAYA) was that they had a new General Manager - other than that, nothing has changed.

So that's what I was told. Hopefully by mid-April they'll be on top of receipts.

BTW, I uploaded another GP receipt after I spoke to the agent and the processing date that's given for that is May 1 :(

Following my call to the LAYA customer service agent on Thursday, all my submitted claims (including the one to the GP on Thursday evening that had an indicative processing date of May 1) have been processed today.

Absolute horse manure @Ger1966 I was told all that as well re renewals and they're super busy etc - never heard a greater load of codswallop in my life! I didn't mention but within the timeframe above my wife submitted a receipt and it was paid next day. I said this to a customer rep (via email) who swore to me that receipts were processed in dare order. Anyway, after I moaned all mine were suddenly dealt with, including two new receipts from end March.
