Affordable Housing-Process/Plans Cork County

Hi Pinkstar,
I have an interview next week too however a friend told me that it is more like the council telling you the rules of the game (clawback) and I was advised to have lots of questions prepared ??? Does anyone else know more about what should be forwarded in the interview ?

All I want to know is when the houses will be allocated after the interview!???? I wonder would they have it done and all before Xmas?

At the interview stage ask:
For an approximate time that you might be allocated a house.
What your points are.
How many have expressed an interest in the houses you are applying for.
With your mortgage approval and points, what type of house are you most likely to be offered.
I was asked whether I'm interested in both houses and appartments or only one of these so it's good to have made up your mind prior to the interview for what you want. I had my interview in mid October and received a letter last week asking me to indicate my preference for either a 2 or 3 bed house.

Thanks Viv (Good luck with your current application sounds promising), Its better to go into interview with abit of a gameplan instead of being a nodding dog for its duration ha.

I am not too sure of what the interviews mean but i myself would see as nothing more than another step - Does anyone think the same ?

Has anyone been offered a house in the Old Quarter in ballincollig? Just wondering if there are a lot of affordable 2 beds down there? Congrats to all who got offered a house.

hi dylanjohn my solicitor rang today and contracts are there ready to be signed. in two minds though whether to wait to see if i have any luck in getting the clawback percentage reduced, but if this would hold things up for another couple of months think i will just sign to get ot over with.

Hi, does anyone know of any developments in the East Cork area for 2008 that will include houses which will be offered under the affordable housing scheme?

I believe there are houses available in Midleton. If you contact the CC directly, they should be able to tell you about them.

As regards advertising the availibility of homes under the scheme is this done in public or do the council just contact those who are on the list and let them know.

Is demand very high in Cork?
I would presume that areas close to the city would be in major demand. Perhaps the fact that i'm interested in the East Cork area maybe a help i'm hoping..

Thats great Jasonia, hopefully my solicitor will also be in touch soon. Im just gonna sign, going by the threads here it would seem that it will be a long and tough journey to try get the clawback percentage reduced.....
