Affordable Housing-Process/Plans Cork County

Still waiting for Greenfields. Only one I qualified for. And the last to be handed out. So I just have to wait.
How are you getting on?
 
does anyone know whether the apartment block in highfields with the underground parking are private/social or affordable. they all look unoccupied at the moment.

As far as I know they are affordable as all the social houses appear to be allocated.

I think there is a mix of social and affordable, as I heard from a local councellor that all the social havent in actual fact been allocated, and that the houses that are empty over by the social houses are social also. And supposedly there is some company (cannot remember their name) bought something like 26 houses/apartments off the council and they rent them out longterm to people that are on the social housing list. So they are something like social houses in a way I suppose....

I was sent to the bank to get approval and then about 2 months after that I got called for an interview. I then got offered a house about a month after.

Im new to this site and i would appreciate any information with regards to the interview stage of an application. I have an interview in the next 2 weeks. I would like to know what to expect etc....

Hi Cumann

If its Cork County Council you have the interview with, its very informal and I would call it more of a chat. They literally go through a few things on your file, and mostly discuss the clawback etc. You sign something stating that you understand the terms of the clawback, and it takes no more than 10 mins. And thats it really. They ask if you have any questions, so just have your quesstions ready for them!

Where do you have an interview for?? when did you hand back your loan approval??
 
guys did any of ye get valuations back for the semis in highfields? what did ye think of them in comparison to the county councils valuation?

There was a difference alright between the valuers report and the councils I was wondering then does that come in to play with the clawback and stuff.

South city hinterland and handed back loan approval last week. Im on list 20+ months.
I have a friend who got a house from AH SCHEME (city council) and he never had an interview. Is it unique to the county???

It must be Douglas so is it??
I havea friend who got a house from the AH city council and they also didnt have any interview they just received a letter stating the house they were being allocated. It seems to just be a county council thing alrite.
 
yes suzy as far as i am aware it is the percentage clawback that it would reduce,as from reading other posts i dont think the price would be reduced. we would have to contact the council though as they might not change their valuation on the property. if enough people contacted them though regarding the valuation they might have to do something. there is a 15 k difference with mine was yours similar?
 
Yes Jasonia, Mine was a 15 k difference aswell. I know other people who have gotten ah in other schemes and the council had the properties valued higher aswell and I don't think the council changed it.
 
Does anyone know anything about the 2 bedroom houses in Old Quarter? Where they are located in the estate?

Did you get a letter asking if you are interested in a 2 bed in Old Quarter? I went to view the showhouses a few weeks ago in the Old Quarter but the 2 bed weren't on view. I asked the agent and she pointed out one of the 2 bed to me. It's stuck in between the terraced showhouses on the right hand side of where the main showhouses are. I could only look in the window but the downstairs is all one i.e. galley kitchen leads onto a living room - it looked very small.

Got a letter where I had to choose from 2 bedroom in Old Quarter and 3 bedroom in Greenfields. I did what you did, peaked in the window, and it looked small. With 2 children I'm going for the 3 bedroom.
 
Just wondering if you get an interview, how long it takes after that to get an offer of a house?
