Key Post UK State Pension - Make voluntary contributions to qualify for UK pension on top of Irish pension

I sent the payment after a received a request from them. Many months ago. However it hadn’t shown up. I called them and asked why not and they said it needed to be allocated which they are now doing.
However they hung up/got cut off before I could ask about future payments. But I have the details now in my Revolut so I will set up a reminder each year. Since I’m caught up I presume it’ll be more straightforward to allocate from now on and I won’t need to spend an hour on the phone to them

Hi, sorry for hijacking the thread apologies if there is a more relevant one I should be looking at only I have a question that to date no one has been able to answer, so here goes.

I have been paying class 2 NI contributions since moving full time to Ireland in 2007 and now have the 35 years contributions needed for a full UK state pension.

I am full time working in Ireland since 2007 paying PRSI so to date approx 18 years of contributions.

Question, if I continue to pay class 2 NI in UK, when I get to Irish state pension age (66) can I transfer any un-needed UK NI contributions into my Irish PRSI contributions, I know you can definitely transfer contributions from other states into the Irish system but was looking to get clarity on whether to continue buying the UK contributions as there is no point buying them if I don't get to use them?

Thanks

Thanks, I was sure you can transfer in contributions from other jurisdictions as before the generous deal the HMRC offered anyone who had paid NI contributions in UK, I was reading that people were using their UK contributions to make up lost years in PRSI contributions.

Its a case of who would/should know, UK or Irish state pension departments.

Thanks

Ah ok, fair enough won't be making any further NIC contributions then.

Thanks for the advice, slowly reading my way through the thread now.

Thanks

I sent three separate payments for 2021/22, 2022/23 and 2023/24 using my GB sub-account within Wise. I decided to go with the IBAN (GB49 BARC 2020 4830 9447 93) for HMRC rather than the Sort Code (08 32 20) since my letter specifically said to use the 'Overseas Payments' method and directed me towards this section of the website:
https://www.gov.uk/pay-class-2-national-insurance/make-online-telephone-bank-transfer

I will keep an eye on it to see how long it takes to update and keep you guys posted.

It looks like my records for the three years (2021/22, 2022/23 and 2023/24) have finally been updated. It now says 'Self-employment: 52 weeks' for each year, so I'm assuming this is how it should look for years where an overseas voluntary national insurance contribution has been made?
