Try thinking about your local pub, what route did you take to work, bus number / train / tube? You can get your NI number by completing and posting form CA5403, address is on the form. They will ask for your U.K. address though. Can you even remember the name of the road you lived on? If you do, use google earth to find the actual house number by zooming in on street level.
I can't remember any of the addresses I lived in (despite buying my own house there) but have all the information on the company I worked for. Has anyone any experience of getting their National Insurance number this way? Will HM be able to track and trace on that alone? I reached out to the company I was employed with and the MD (same guy who I worked with many moons ago) has searched high and low for me but says they do not keep records that far back. I can't believe how bad my memory is.
My hunch is everything was discarded as I generally don't hold things that have zero relevance in my life for more than 10 years. My family are similar and don't hang onto stuff but its no harm to ask my parents. There's no chance that i'd remember a bus number. As for using google maps I have no memory of any of the roads so I wouldn't even know where to start. But I will still take a look to see if it jogs my memory. Thanks for the suggestions.Try thinking about your local pub, what route did you take to work, bus number / train / tube?
Do you have older family members who still use address books? There might be one hanging around next to the landline.
I found an address on a lloyds bank statement which I thankfully kept from 1989 which my salary was paid into. Did you have mortgage with bank, any chance you remember or can guess bank. Did you pay council tax what council borough did you live in. Did you ever claim social welfare or register with department of work and pensions job centres, if you did a DSAR would that throw up something.I take it you've never applied for Garda Vetting?
I noticed this change today too. I wonder is it triggered by my annual payment for last tax year which was paid in early May (which is otherwise and currently unrecognised by the HMRC system). When I log in to see my record now it says
"There is a short delay in processing some payments. Your forecast will be updated as soon as possible."
I had the same change and I also had processed a payment .I noticed this change today too. I wonder is it triggered by my annual payment for last tax year which was paid in early May (which is otherwise and currently unrecognised by the HMRC system).

Not really; keep a printed record & have it in your file.I can see it and no payment made yet.
I'll be doing so this week. I'm going to go the Revolut route but is there any need to ring before making the payment or just afterwards to confirm its been received and to allocate to the correct years?
Apologies if it has already been explained but what is the incentive for the UK government to do this?
I pay 200 per year for the next x years and when I get to 67 they will give me 12,000 per year in exchange for this.
Doesn’t seem to make much sense from the uk government’s perspective, who aren’t (that) stupid
In my case, I have put 2 queries in with them - one for me personally and the other (more complex) query for my wife. My query was a simple Class 3/2 Change which they processed in 2-3 weeks. The other is with them ~6 weeks with no sign of any progress. In both cases I wrote to them with the details, relevant forms and cover letter..... this I believe speeds up the process. In my case I got re-classified to the slower cost class and have just submitted a payment, which I am waiting to see it processed on their on line portal. Hope that helps?I paid for 17 years in February and it’s still not on my record. They did allocate a payment for 2023/24 which was not included in my payment. I got through to them on the HMRC chat and was told they have my payment and there’s currently a delay of 33 weeks. So it looks like I’ll have to wait until October. Is anyone else in this position. I know I’ll just have to be patient and forget about it until then. Anyone else waiting this long?
