SEPA Instant Progress, or the lack of it...

@Fortune It means you can use your credit card to top up your Revolut account without Revolut fees - Add debt to your credit card to put money in your Revolut account.

That's my experience too; I think one poster has been unlucky and fallen foul of sanctions checks.

I’ve had mixed experiences with N26 to AIB. Some are instant and some were standard SEPA (next day). No clear reason for the difference.

fallen foul of sanctions checks.
Christ, considering I am transferring from two accounts that belong to me (both on my name, mind you), and that I can do non-instant payments just fine... The quality of the sanctions checks are great! The criminals must be laughing all the way to the instant transfers bank...

Still fighting this. N26 decided to close the support ticket opened when I asked for the UETR, so had to open another one. This time they came back.

Now waiting for AIB.

So from what I read, I am just 'unlucky'. It is a bit like the no-fly list. People so dangerous they aren't allowed to fly, but not dangerous enough to arrest them. In my case I'm in the no instant-transfers list. It is all good, so long as I am willing to wait a few hours for the money to be transferred.

More on my woes with transferring money between N26 and AIB using SEPA Instant transfers.

N26 gave me a transfer ID (UETR?) for the failed transfer.
AIB claims this UETR does not exist in their system and suggest I ask N26 but they say that's the end of the investigation for them.
AIB closes their ticket and sends me a 'Final Response'...

I contacted our Payments team with the information you provided. Unfortunately, they are unable to locate this UETR which would indicate the payment did not reach us and was not rejected by us. They have suggested that N26 will need to trace the payment from their side and query further as to why the payment failed. The only thing I can tell you is based on the code RR04 you provided on your initial email and reviewing Sepa Reasons Codes this states it is due to " Regulatory Reason" and to contact your bank (sending bank). I am sorry I can not provide you with any further explanation as to why this has occurred as our Payments team can not investigate any further on this side.

As a consumer it is rather infuriating. I can do standard transfers just fine, but Sepa Instant fails? And I am supposed to know about UETRs and liaise with two banks who take 10 days to get back to you just to say we can't help.

The whole point was instant transfers... I tried the first transfer mid-January. It is nearly April and they are still failing. Definitely not instant!

I did some more N26 to AIB transfers... The icon which looks like a ticket stub in the (iPhone) app is next day/SEPA standard transfer. The icon which has a square, triangle and circle is SEPA instant.

Now my problem is I can't lodge/transfer to N26 without incurring a 3% charge. Transferring to the N26 IBAN (for free) results in the money being sent back.

@dmcardle "Now my problem is I can't lodge/transfer to N26 without incurring a 3% charge. Transferring to the N26 IBAN (for free) results in the money being sent back. What are you referring to here? N26's own internal top ups from your bank or credit card? And from what bank are you trying to transfer to your N26 IBAN from? Or are you talking about transfers only and your bank doesn't allow you to do a free transfer and they want to charge you 3%? Never heard of that from any of the banks in Ireland...
