Nobody can "claim" the seat, this is not a monarchy. There will be an election and the people will elect a new TD.Just wondering what happens to his seat,can you of his children claim this,as I think happened with Brian Cowan when his Dad passed away.

It could also be said that they utilised his talent and skill in situations that required such.
I agree, I'm not trying to imply he was mere nice guy but talentless stooge, but I've just seen situations in the past (can't recall specifics at the moment) where another minister would have far more appropriate background /experience but they pushed Seamus to the front as a defuser: "But sure they like you"

No - she's going to run for the local election for Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council in the Dundrum ward, but not for the Dail.I read yesterday that Seamus Brennan's daughter is going to be the FF candidate for the by-election.
