Health Insurance New Health Insurance provider launches

Just had another look and Simply Connect Plus is attractive too. I especially like the 50% refund of dental fees.
This sentence jumped out at me while reading up as must renew this week. Anyway I had SCP this year and was very disappointed with the dental bit, I had an expensive appointment earlier this year, they only cover something towards cleaning I think under routine and emergency.

Anyway I had to go to a dentist with a toothache, long story short, they referred me for a root canal to a different dentist for that, after the consultation it was agreed to monitor for 6mths before deciding. It cost me €150 for the appointment but Laya said none of that was covered under SCP as basically they didn't consider it routine and it wasn't emergency either.

Just thinking though - where else would you be getting an xray done potentially (that it's not covered)?
That's all X-rays wherever they're done. The Beacon, for example, charge €130 of which Laya refund half.

As far as scans are concerned, I had a CT done privately in my local hospital much faster than the nearest approved centre would have done it. Laya refunded half of the €280. I confirmed today that plan D would pay only €20.

But would that not be often done either as an in-patient (and covered under in patient cover) or in beacon A&E (and covered under emergency dept in private hospitals cover)

CT scans are covered in full - direct pay - with level health Plan D in lots of places including Blackrock, Bons, Mater, Vincents private. That would cover a lot of people.

All the scans that I've ever had have been as a non emergency outpatient. Actually, on reflection, about half of them were via the public system where no insurance was needed at all...

There seems to be always something in the fine print somewhere that covers them not paying out. Thought it sounded too good to be true.
