Health Insurance New Health Insurance provider launches

Even though we don't know what they're actually offering yet?
I’ll wager I’ll get close to the same cover for cheaper and it’s time to switch as I’ve been too long with the same provider, mr Goode seems to think it’s a good idea too

At first glance its looking about 20% cheaper than Laya on an equivalent plan - Flex 500 Explore €188/month for 2 of us v €148/month on Level health B @ 500excess. If i move to 300 excess its €156/month

I've yet to look at everything, but in the areas I'd be looking at it seems identical, so will probably switch with €500 savings.

Some small difference in how excess is applied. EG Laya don't apply excess for psychiatric stays/substance abuse stays, whereas Level health do.
Another difference is the room cover. On Laya I have private room cover but level health is semi private unless I mover to Plan C. So that's a point to note if you think you are likely to need a hospital stay.

I have just got my renewal from Laya for December 1st... Control Create 300 x 2 €3837 (3054 last year)

Plan D Level Health similar cover but no excesses (I think for Blackrock etc..) is coming in at 4525 but if home insurance is discounted by 50% as they say, might be a more viable option. Simplicity is coming in about the same but again excesses are much higher for some of the hi tech hospitals.

I can't see much about pre existing conditions or waiting times for what they might consider an upgrade of policy. Maybe I am looking in the wrong area.

Am I right in assuming the all consultants etc.. will automatically be included?

The perks are certainly attractive

Decent travel insurance included (incl winter sports)
50% off Home insurance
Personal accident insurance
15% off car insurance

I had a quick look at day to day cover. Only 1 GP visit a year, max refund is €40. I go to GP once a year, this year it was 3 times but that's unusual.

I think that's without the day to day expenses add-on?
I made a mistake earlier but deleted my post because it was misleading.
I think if you add on the day to day expenses option the refunds are more extensive.

OK. Thanks for clarifying. I'm not due to change until may so will look closer nearer the time.

Pat Kenny and Clare Byrne covered it this morning ie Friday 15th November. Overall they both seemed positive about it

I made the switch yesterday, no brainer. I was with irish life health guide 1 last year costing 1296. I was quoted 1517 last week for the exact same plan for renewal in December. I purchased plan c yesterday for 1220 for virtually the same plan or very close to it. My home insurance renewal is due also. I was quoted 400. I will get 50% off here. I also have car insurance with aviva. Not yet due for renewal but I will get 15% off here. Plan c also covers travel insurance which will save me 100 euro. This new offering is very worthwhile in my view.

What is day to day cover under Plan C ?

I'm paid 4400 for health guide 2 with Irish Life Health, 2 adults and 3 kids (one just turned 18 so assume adult rates from now), haven't got renewal yet or at keast I can't find it.

Will post back when I figure out closest level health plan.

NOW I'm excited!
I've had a good look at Plan D and believe it blows my Laya Simplicity policy out of the water in virtually every department!!

Plan D seems way too cheap compared to the other insurers high end plans - I am looking for the catch!
