European Parliament Elections

An interesting observation.
If the recent European elections had been FPTP instead of STV/PR, the result would not have changed in North, 4th and 5th would have changed places in Dublin and 5th and 6th would have changed places in South. Full agreement on 12 of the 14 winners and the difference on the 2 was a toss up. Was it really worth a week long count?
Well yes, coz it meant Mick Wallace wasn’t elected :)

Jack Chambers to replace him as Minister for Finance.

She was competent at a very senior level and managed not to make us look like the simple bovine muck savages we are so ill give her a pass ;)

How much will she get?

Edit; from what I can see they get 3.5% of their salary for each year in office. If that's the case she'll get around €90k a year. That's less than a senior Civil Servant gets here.
It's worth remembering that if we don't pay our politicians well then only those on welfare and rich people can afford to be politicians.

I half joked before that I'd vote for Jeffrey Donaldson for President ahead of Micky D. Then the revelations about Jeffrey came out and I realised, well I realised that I'd still vote for him ahead of Micky D. Therefore I'd certainly vote for Mairead McGuinness. She'd probably understand and respect the constitutional position and responsibilities of the office.
 
So Mairead or Leo, Bertie, Gerry Adams(or Mary Lou depending on the General election results), some minor leftie celebrity and who know who else. + all the right wing nutters will run around the councils looking for a nomination and will fail

There's a bit of gravitas with Mairead.Never rated Varakar despite being FG....as for the others, a rogues gallery probably politely sums them up.
