Central Bank - exchange Irish punts

I want to exchange Irish punts for Euro with Central Bank. Is there any need to worry, its a large amount. I have them for 20 years, and its savings of mine. I'm reading, Revenue and Gardai are informed. Maybe I'm being paranoid.

You're doing a cash transaction. The AML legislation is no different than if you were lodging cash at your bank. You'll have to provide ID, etc.

Why be paranoid or worried if you can show where the money came from? When you say "large amount", can we ask or be told what amount it is?

Your definition of "large amount" may not be the same as theirs.
