BOI Supersaver Account

Tried to open a new BOI supersaver account through the 365 app and unable to do so. Contacted BOI and told there is a technical issue that prevents clients from opening the account! Was told to go on their website, decline the 365 option and open the account as a non 365 user. What a farce?

Ok... So that sounds about right. I do not have BOI account but walked into a branch to set up account. The branch person was rude and said it wasn't possible. I rang customer service from the branch, and proceeded to the little Hub with computer.. and followed instructions from over the phone to start the set up process. Now it works as a direct debit from N26 on a set date. There is no way to see the account online. You have to make a phone call with any query, but they are great on the phone. So yep, it's a strange set up.

After a year if i was doing 2,500 per month could I cancel direct debit and set up a new one for say 5 euro or stop altogether?

According to the terms and conditions you can hold up to two accounts in your sole name or jointly.

Is there any way to find out your balance is you don't have Banking365 other than going into a branch? For example, can you get your balance over the phone?

I think you need to be registered for phone banking.

The T&Cs state "Save monthly by Direct Debit from large to small amounts. Minimum €5 – Maximum €2,500" So cancelling the DD would probably cause the account to be closed. This happened to me in the past with the first BOI GoalSaver account I opened. The solution would be to reduce the DD to the minimum and open additional account if you wished to do so.

Anyone know if you can register for phone banking without registering for 365?

With some BoI products, you can get 365 access without having a current account. An example, the Aer Credit Card where you can set up 365 with just having a credit card ... https://www.reddit.com/r/irishperso...redit_card_check_balance_without_boi_current/

But, as far as I know, the same cannot be done if you have a savings account but no current account. But open to correction.

Some years back I had a current account and two Goalsaver accounts with BOI. When I closed the current account I lost online access to the Goalsaver accounts. From that point onwards, I was reliant on annual statements. I opened a new Current Account at the end of 2001 when UB were in the process of withdrawing and got BOI to link the Goalsaver Accounts to the new online profile.

You can telephone and they are very helpful. You need your reg number, which I had forgotten, but I got through a different way. To find the direct debits amounts, I can search bank. I forgot to move money into the servicing account for direct debit in time last month. The standing order failed. Phoned and they explained, that next attempt will be same date next month.

In fairness I found this aswell. I was able to get through almost immediately and my issue was resolved very quickly.
Also when I called in on spec re. another matter, I was quickly dealt with by a friendly and knowledgeable staff member.
They also gave me a printed up to date statement of my SuperSaver account.
Now all they need to do is to get the IT people to sort their end?!

I understand why new transaction entry isn't allowed given the restrictive terms attaching to these accounts, but I don't get why they won't allow existing transactions to be displayed. It would be a very minor IT change and would facilitate customers as well as eliminating the staff time-wasting that goes with phone calls and branch visits.

Freelance You must forgive my lack of understanding, but don't all new transactions subsequently become existing transactions?
