Although I said "no twenty minute phone call" I decided to just check if I could improve on my renewal quote by doing a new customer online quote and guess what, yes I couldNo twenty minute phone call just pay up and enjoy another year of good value motor insurance
That's good. I get the lowest with Aviva €310. I tried to get a quote with AIG online but after inputting all my info I got a message to say they couldn't quote?Fully comp €297.30
Although I said "no twenty minute phone call" I decided to just check if I could improve on my renewal quote by doing a new customer online quote and guess what, yes I could
So yesterday gave them a call (24 minutes) and renewed as a new customer but also in addition to protected NCD I also now have reduced my excess from €300 to €125 added stepback NCD and also personal accident benefit
Total value of the additions came to €48.63 and there still is a minimum premium charge been added of €20.83 to bring the policy up to the €310
As we've said before in this thread I've done this so as when next years renewal comes in and if by chance I can't get it down to the minimum premium I can remove some or all of the additions to help lower the premium
Well I've made two in the past, most recently in 2019 with Aviva and never noticed an increase in my premiums due to the claimi don't care what insurers claim about windscreen claims, but since i had to make one (thanks Kia for more shoddy works) my premium has increased from the min of 280 4 years ago to ~500 this year. No other claims. Car is now 5 years old.
You have to stay with OUTsurance for 3 years claim free before you get your 10% refund. Even if they were competitive in year 1, that does not necessarily mean they would be competitive in year 2 & 3. I get close to minimum premiums with other insurers, so can’t see OUTsurance benefitting me, it will be interesting to see if others can benefit.I also saw there is a new insurer to the market OUTsurance. But i couldnt get their site to quote me.
OUTsurance joins Irish insurance market
Consumers look set to have more choice in the insurance market from today with the formal launch of a new insurer.www.rte.ie
You mean starting a new policy with Aviva rather than renewing your old one because the former is cheaper?I got my car insurance renewal from Aviva for €365 for next year. As per usual I got an online quote for insurance as a new customer and it was €310. I added in extras at the end of.....Protected No Claims discount, reduced excess from €300 to €150 and Journey Wise thrown in....and the premium had increase to €311.
Now the trick is to transfer my certificate of no claims bonus from my last policy to my new policy. Never an easy job.
I think there is "step back" as well which can be combined with the protected NCDMy wife got her renewal from Aviva at €310. However the actual cost of her car insurance from them is €252 but because they have a minimum charge of €310 she cannot avail of the lower cost. Even with Protected NCD and reduced excess included in the €310.
Is there anything else besides JourneyWise accident cover that she can add in to her policy from Aviva?
or
Are there other Insurance companies out there that do not have a minimum charge?
Is the protected NCD not better than the step back? In other words if you have a crash would you not be calling on the protected NCD and not calling on the step back?I think there is "step back" as well which can be combined with the protected NCD
From Aviva's websiteIs the protected NCD not better than the step back? In other words if you have a crash would you not be calling on the protected NCD and not calling on the step back?
Can you have both and is there any point in having both?
They do have 3 options, but on line anyway it only lets you select 1 option. From Aviva's website
We at Aviva offer 3 types of optional NCD protection:
Yes three options but pick one, each has a different priceThey do have 3 options, but on line anyway it only lets you select 1 option.
