Affordable Housing-Process/Plans Cork County

Its hard to tell how long it will take it depends on the amount of people and houses that they have to allocate. The next step which is a good sign is an interview if you get called for one. With my apllication I had my interview 2 months after I sent in my approvals because there was so many on the list Ballincollig.

Yip, a really long process unfortunately, but worth it in the end if you get a house.

Suzy, were you in the houses today? I was told they were open between 9.30 - 11.30, but couldnt get the time off work. Was in them ages ago, cant really remember now, but I loved them. They're big aswell arent they? I wonder if they're open again tomorrow.....

I dnt think they are I went up there during my morning break they lovely there is a wardrobe in the main bedroom and ensuite with shower. The sitting room and kitchen are lovely and big and there is a lovely fire place and all.

Ya, I was looking in the windows alright, kitchen & sitting room are lovely. Just couldnt really remember upstairs. I just cant wait now, how long do you think the whole legal process takes? My friend was saying her solicitor said maybe only 3/4 weeks, but I heard else where 8-12 weeks.

congrats dylanjohn and suzy on the offers, i got offered one also last week but did not get chance to log on and let ye know as i,ve been up walls wit work and tryin to sort insurance and all those horrible bits out. I was doubtful whether to accept offer at first as i,m not from ballicollig but there was no guarantee i,d get as nice a house if i held out for douglas.

Oh thats brill Jasonia. The houses are really lovely so I think you were right to accept! Just wondering if you know how long the whole process will take, like when will we get the keys etc. Its just I havent started the ball rolling myself with the bank and so on as I only got offered one last Thursday.....

Hi Suzy,

I was just down again and had another look but wasnt in it or anything. Just looking in the windows!! What about you?

I did the same but I'm just worried now it wont come tru I rang the council there and she said I should hear by the end of the week.

Good luck with meeting them. You know the legal side when I had my interview I was told it would take 8-12 weeks. Do you go through your own sol. or do you have to go through the council?

Hi dylanjohn.

Congrats on the offer! That's great news! Hope everything goes well in the bank. Youll be moving in before you know it.

Yip, you pick your own solicitor. I have a meeting in Fiona Foleys tomorrow. Will find out then roughly how long. My friend spoke with 2 solicitors (both quoted about 2k) and 1 said about 4+ weeks, and the other said 4-8. Id say it just depends on the solicitor.

Hi Suzy.

Congrats to you to! I hope the legal side doesn't take to long for you and that you can move in soon. Congrats again!

Some sol hav a set fee like Niall murphys used to do it for €950.00 it might be worth a try to ring them if it saves you a grand

That was the quote she was given, but there are lots of additions on top of the initial fee off €950, or whatever it was. So I reckon its gonna average around the 2k mark. Ill let you know what quote I get aswell.
