Affordable Housing-Process/Plans Cork County

Has anybody been allocated Douglas or heard of anybody that has?
I rang the council this mornin and they said it could be christmas before they have the keys! It's a joke at this stage!!!

Dylanjohn,

Wednesday so I can't wait. Someone told me that they were after dropping the prices of highfield and old quarter to 220k but I dunno whether to believe that.

Thats brill, best of luck!

Im gonna ring and try find out about the prices if thats true cos I could def manage to make up the difference of that. Ill let you know!!!

Suzy,

Well I just rang there, and was told by the girl that answered thats its not true. Darn - thats would have been brill!! You might query it again when ur in on Wednesday!

Dylanjohn,

I will def query it cause she was talking to a girl I work she had her interview on tuesday and she said to her that's what they told her. I didn't think it was true either but I will ask on Wednesday anyways. What do they go through in the interview

Not a lot to be honest, its very brief. They just mostly go through the clawback, and confirm a couple of things on your file, i.e savings. Then they just ask if you have questions, and that was about it. 10 mins max!

I just asked them about the house prices, and I was told that what was said on the letter is accurate. When will they be allocated, I was told 4-5 weeks, and I asked with my approval will I only be considered for Greenfields, and was told I would be as there would be no point in being considered for a house that I couldnt afford. That was about it I think, I couldnt really think of anything after that. They were the main things that I wanted to know. What are you gonna ask them?

I suppose I'll prob ask the same and I will ask what my chances are. I can't really think of anything else!

Sure let me know how it goes anyway, and hopefully they'll have some new info by then! Good Luck

Hi Dylanjohn,

Just to let you know I see some of the council houses in Greenfields are now occupied so I presume it wont be much longer before the affordable are allocated.

Hi Suzy,

Ya, I drove up the other day and saw that the council ones are occupied. So hopefully now it wont be much longer. It'll be 3 weeks Thursday since my interview, and they told me 4-5 weeks, or by the end of October. Whats the chances they'll tell you next month or something when you go in on Wednesday!

Hi Dylanjohn,

I hope they don't say that to me anyway but I suppose chances are they will take longer than specified knowing them! I'm real nervous bout tmrw.

Hi Dylanjohn,

I had my interview yesterday anyway. I didn't get much more information I was told to ring in 6 weeks if I hadn't heard anything from them. She said that they still had not started any of the allocations yet as they are still waiting on some of the keys. She just went through stuff on my file and explained the clawback. When I asked what my chances are she just that we were in the running but it will be a long process yet because if they offered us a house we would have to get the mortgage and organise the legal process. She said the legal process can take 8-12 weeks alone. So I told her I didn't mind how long it took once we would know where we stand.

Hi Suzy,

Pretty much the same info as what I got so. Except now they're sayin another 6 weeks. Will we ever know i wonder??!! Was it just the 1 girl that interviewed you, or was there 2 of them there?
