Affordable housing Dunlaoghaire Rathdown-Parkview, Belarmine & Thornwood

Yes most definitely, its the same debate we had about Beacon, whether an apartment in an aff/social block would be easy to resell due to stigma which may be attached, obviously is even worse if its an almost seperate development! If the figures in the planning permission post are correct re Parkview with that proportion of social housing, it may be refusal number 2 from me the snob!

I'd imagine that some of Parkview would have to be in the existing buildings though wouldnt they? The point I made didnt read that well. I was saying that the council think that people should be getting offered Parkview / Belarmine would be offered them in the next couple of months - for this to happen I would have presumed the apartments would already have been built and almost finished. Not sure how far along the new blocks are.

The affordable/social that I think I've spotted in Parkview are all built and empty. They are not the same as the standard Parkview, they are beside them right next to sign for social/affordable. I don't think any affordable will be in the private blocks.

If that is the case they are probably waiting till they've offloaded Beacon first before they move on to this development?

Wouldnt surprise me in the least. Apparently theres a load of apartments now going in Goatstown but only to people who are in the Stillorgan ward I think. A friend of mine who was nearly 200 on the general list but has been living in the area all his life got offered one there just before Christmas. Dont know if anyone who was just on the general list got offered one.

Does anyone know if anyone on the Dundrum list has been offered anything recently?

I'm on Dundrum list and was told before Christmas that there won't be any movement on that list for a long time. I'm being offered something on my county place instead. Am quite high up on the Dundrum list.

Rabbits I'm I think 12 on Dundrum list and as far as I'm aware no one on list has been offered anything (in Dundrum electoral ward). Its hard to get any info from county council re future developments when they have places available now that they need to get rid of. Initially way back in August I was told Wyckham Point would be what I would be offered first, in the new year, but now that they're perhaps moving through list quicker than anticipated the Beacon and Stepaside look like they may be my offers as they've reached my spot on county council list.

Same here. Its a complete bummer.......being quite high on the list and nothing being offered. They spoke to me about Beacon. Then again, I was talking to a broker recently about my mortgage and he mentioned that someone was in recently looking for a mortgage for something near me (Clonskeagh) under the affordable scheme so thats what made me wonder.

Monos, same here, same here. My spot on the middle list was reached so thats the one I was called in about. When I was there, they had my lists and the Dundrum list was scribbled out.

That might be the Goatstown ones rabbits - they're on the border of Goatstown & Clonskeagh (if such a thing exists!!)

Hmm...that could well be it. He mentioned that they were near The Goat. Oh well, there goes that idea :)

They're the ones alright. Think theres 20-30 apartments in them and they're all affordable properties.

I've heard they look great too, good location aswell! I thought Goatstown was in Dundrum electoral ward but must border on Stillorgan or we would have been offered places there.

I just double-checked with the council regarding their fees (I'd forgotten them) - €2050!! something to factor in!

Dont forget they also do the snagging and charge around 300-400 for that as well. Nearly 2.5k altogether :(

I need to ring them...I can't find the pages I wrote on while I was with them. I thought for Beacon we did our own snagging - that we were buying as if buying directly from the developer?

When the council do their snagging is that independent?
Also don't forget to factor in the apartment valuation (your mortgage provider might charge this).

Don't know about how independant they are. I have heard stories though of others that bought under affordable schemes where the council insisted on doing the snagging and it wasn't exactly as particular as we would be ourselves!! The finish wasn't as high quality in the affordable units as it was in the private ones. I'm fairly sure thought that I was told for Beacon we'd be doing our own snagging.
