Advice on getting in to business in Ireland

Hi all,
After 30yrs in corporate middle management I am considering starting a business or buying a business. I've managed people, customers, sales & marketing, managed budgets and P&L's to a certain extent, but not been exposed to running a small business as a whole. I'm not looking specifically for financial or strictly business advice - but more looking at how can I explore this area more and look to educate and prepare myself for maybe making this step in the future? Is there a good source of business groups or forums that I could find for small businesses in Ireland? Is there good courses anywhere - online or in person that people would recommend?
I've done the Youtube stuff with various entrepreneurial content, but looking at something more practical and specific to Ireland. I don't know what I don't know as yet, so apologies if this come across quite vague.

Thanks in advance

Perhaps you're already beyond this, but if not its a decent starting point. The SYOB course I did only cost €30 a couple of years ago. It consisted of 6 x 3 hour sessions and a little follow up one to one mentoring. It is a very basic starting point, but after 30+ years in public service it helped me a lot to know where to focus my mind.

That's great, thank you!

I think the hardest part is taking the leap, LEO may provide the community that supports doing that. I'm mid 30s and need the same push off the cliff

agree.

It’s very cheap for what it is. I have a relative who learned a lot from it.

Her business never got off the ground but that’s because it was always a terrible idea.

The issue in starting a new business is never what you expect. It's both much easier, in the day to day practicalities and much more difficult in the personal challenges, than you expect. SYOB courses like that mentioned above can be brilliant, for the connection and support.

After 30 years in middle management you have more than enough knowledge and skills.

The issue is you, are you equipped to make the jump? Yes.

Will you make the jump? ?
