Advertised as closing at 10pm however they all closed at 9.30pm

There was close to a riot when punters went up to get a drink to be told bar was closed
Yet the barstaff were still pulling pints and had lines of beer on the counter?? It was like dangling a carrot in front of a horse

Not a let of happy people there anyone else have thoughts on this ?

Glad to see the bars closed early. Now I know my son wasn't drinking all night and was cosily wrapped up in his wigwam by midnight.

Outdoor gigs in Ireland always close the bars early - Bon Jovi this year in Punchestown, The Rolling Stones at Slane last year and RHCP/Pixies in the Phoenix Park all closed the bars at around 9.30pm.

I was thinking if every young person that attended oxygen gave just 2 euros for charity the amount of money that would have been collected would have been fantastic.

but it they gave 5 euro that would be brilliant, 10 would be amazing and 20 would be out of this world. where does it end?

€8 for a pint with €3 refunded when you brought the container back. Maybe they didn't want the containers back, hence the early closing?

And I think if everyone who went to the cinema gave €2 to charity, that would be fantastic as well.

My reasoning behind this is the fact you had such a huge gathering together over a short period of time. If you think of the length of time it would take to get that money fund raised through flag days etc, Just a thought. Plus the fact you could then say that as well as the young people enjoying themselves it would have benefited many less fortunate as well.

I managed to get drinks on Friday & Saturday night just before ten? Although, they do limit you to two drinks per person and they do close the bars by ten. Personally I think it is a good thing. By the time the main acts were over just after 1am I think a lot of the revellers were starting to feel tired and the beginning of a hangover kicking in. Perhaps this makes it easier to steer people out of the arena and easier to handle in the campsites?

The people at these concerts pay enough for tickets without another €2 going to charity.

Well if they can afford to pay £8 for a pint and how many pints I wonder did they consume, I don't think they have any money problems.

or how about if the promoters donated €2 to charity for every ticket sold!!!!

and how about ticketmaster donated half of their service charge to charity also.....

Excellent idea. Just out of curiousity what was the attendance at Oxegen over the weekend?

I don't know how you can equate what people pay for a pint at a concert to "if they donated €2 to charity it would be great"

If GAA fans pay €50 for an All-Ireland ticket why not pay €2 to charity.
If someone pays €50 for a meal why not pay €2 to charity.
If someone earns €750 a week why not pay €2 to charity.

Just because someone pays €8 for a pint doesn't automatically mean they should be obliged to pay a fixed sum to charity.

The Banker, according to what I can gather (correct me if I'm wrong) there were 80,000 attended per day over the 3 days, when again would you get such a chance of this amount of people together, to me an unbelievable chance lost for a good cause. Almost half a million euro. Wow!
