Folks,
a quick question - don't know if I have it in the correct forum but if you can help it would be greatly appreciated

if you have a UK registered company, where it suits the owners of that company to register in the UK but have the banking facility with an Irish bank for simplicity of transfers from company to its employees/directors (who all happen to be Irish) - is there any reason why this wouldn't be allowed under UK company legislation? (obivously the Irish bank chosen will be one of the big 2 which will have branches in the UK also but the main bank accounts for the company will be held in an Irish location rather than a UK location)
thks

Legislation is not going to specify which country a company has its bank accounts in ? Why would you think it would ?

I know of a number of Irish companies that have sterling bank accounts in Northern Ireland, so I don't see any reason for it not to work the other way around.

Capall, legislation in the broader sense - company law, guidelines, companies house guidelines etc.... - sorry if i was being a little restrictive.... any helpful comments

I think its difficult to answer the question in any meaningful way without knowing the reasons why the company should be registered in England and presumably operated or managed from Ireland.

For example an English company with a majority of Irish resident directors is deemed an Irish resident company for tax purposes.................

As a simple fact, An english company can hold bank accounts in any jurisdiction it wishes.

To piggyback on this thread-what does an Irish registered company need to do to set up a UK bank account?

Same as what an irish bank will look for, certificate of incorporation, passport of directors etc
