Hi,
I'd agree with Nai. These insurance products are a waste of time. The odds of it being stolen are highly unlikely & even if it was you may well have a good chance at getting it back. The only thing i can think off that would make it worth getting the insurance is if:
- you have young kids & are afraid that they might break it.
- you are using it in unsafe environments e.g. building site etc...
Having worked in one of these stores that propmote insurance on products, i can tell you that it is in the interest of the salesperson ($$$) to sell as much as these 'insurance' sales as possible. The truth is that after a year or 2, the laptop will have depreciated immensely & you will more than likely want to upgrade. The laptop probably has anything from a 1-3 year warranty with it anyways (most likely 1).The price of a laptop is falling all the time & if you saved or invested your €60 each month, by the end of a year alone, you would have enough for a brand new laptop & you could even sell it on. Also, if there is room in your Laptop for upgrades -extra RAM etc.. then you could use this money to upgrade it to keep up with the need for extra processing power etc...
BTW, there are also some online shops that are good for laptops that may be better for you & cheaper. Don't be fooled by the big brand names, there are perfectly good machines outthere with littl-known brand names that are just as good, if not better than the big brand names. Take a look at [broken link removed] for example. I use this one the whole time but im sure you'll find many more on google.
Also, maybe you can get this covered on your house contents insurance, worth a look.
Whatever ya do, DONT imho go wasting your money!
