What would happen if we just imposed a standard tax rate, and just left things as they are, without TD intervention.QUOTE]
I don't think this would work. As part of the EU, tax credits, tax incentives etc. are some of the only tools available to stimulate certain sectors or geographical areas and generally direct our country.
Just because the current group of politicians completely messed up by over-stimulating the wrong sectors, it does not mean that a flat rate of tax would work better.
I wonder will they claim all the extra costs incurred at being 'stranded' on their expenses?
What do we need them for? - Seriously?
So just to clarify, no new legislation, no changes in our existing policy, no changes in policy to respond to external changes - right? Who do expect to make the major decisions like - do we proceed with Metro or not? do we prioritise spending on mental health or cardiac care? What would happen if we just imposed a standard tax rate, and just left things as they are, without TD intervention.
