Hi There,
Marlene here - are you moving into a one bedroom?
If so, please tell me the size of the floors for flooring... the sq yards I think is what they need?
If anybody else has this info, please pass it on?
Also, does anybody in a one bedroom have the size of the two big windows?
And what are you doing for curtains?

I am waiting for BOI to approve my loan.. everyone.. please cross fingers...

Thanks in advance

Hi Stuie,

Please tell me is this amount a one off amount paid?
Do you have a one or 2 bed?

Thanks for all the info everyone.. MarleneM

Hi, I think its a great idea if we meet up. We all have different info so it would be great to share it all. Ruthie, good idea with that site, a friend mentioned it before and said its helpful. We all need to know the craic, especially when it comes to the management fee renewal down the line. Together we stand, divided we fall and all that.......:)

Hi, the 1400.00 tax credit(which I think is incorrect) is the yearly tax credit owner occupier section 23 -- that applies to your tax credit cert. This means you can earn more before paying tax. We are entitled to this for 10 years. I think that amount should be much higher, am checking it out. I have 2 bed.

Gosh I thought the credit would work out a lot more than that amount Stuie, thats kinda dissappointing. Will let you know how I get on with the Revenue when the forms are finally seen to.

hi all ive been on to Environmental Officer with regard to noise pollution of captian americas again today, she has asked me to speak with the residents and ask as to what time realistically we could deal with music etc going on to in order for her to liaise further with the manager Matt of capitan americas.

Ive also been on to Rathfarnham Garda Station as the superintendent there is responcible for the licence. i am awaiting for the superintendant return to the office so i can speak with him and get him to clarify what licence is held by them.

it was really bad again last saturday night and disturbed my quite enjoyment of my home.. what everyone is entitled to. Me and another resident apprached the manager after 1.30am and were met with quite an abrupt rude guy who was not in the slightest bit interested in what we had to say and couldnt of given a feck. If anyone else is having probs please get in touch with Gillian in SDCC Environmental Dept so she can give you a log book in order to keep a log of all probs.

Thanks,

Ruth

Hi Ruthie. Fair play giving us the info. I dunno what the 'norm' is in residential areas but would 11.00pm during the week and 12.00am at weekends be reasonable? I know in our own contracts we cant make noise after a time like this so not to disturb other residents.

Thanks Ruthie, I think 12 at weekend and 11 during week is fair. Its unreal having that noise going on and then the noise of them leaving. I dont know how anyone with children can put up with it.

hey all - I agree with the hours for captain americas - the noise at times has been very fustrating. I have noticed that for some reason its fine up till about 11 or so then they higher the music up. I was out myself on sat night so thankfully it didnt keep me up. In fairness though I have'nt hear too much from there recently so maybe someone has had a word. We'll see this weekend!

Still waiting on my section 23 relief to go though - hopefully soon. God I did think it would be a lot more than what Stuie was told. Thats a bit dissapointing all right.

deedav, lucky you being out on saturday night, it was the worst ive ever heard it! it has been a lot quieter lately but it took the biscuit on sat night.
yeah very dissappointed about the section 23 relief myself when i heard how much stuie only got. still waiting on mine, ill let ye know how i get on

Just got my long awaited news. I'm closing Monday. Finally! Very happy. I have to go into town to sign a form in the council solicitors then up to SDCC in Tallaght to get my keys and codes :)

I'm in Apt 58. Any of my neighbors around? :D

MarleneM, your still welcome to come have a look if you would like to view/measure up a 1 bed. (I think they are all the same but you'll know after you see it i guess/or from my previous video link).

hi folks, Need to get my TV working. Whats the story with Sky conway at present?

Anyone using them for internet?

Anyone got an unused carpark space?

Thanks

Hi Stuie,

I am using Sky Conway for the channels only you get 18 for 15.oo a month they take it every 3 months by direct debit so its 45.00 every 3 months, they channels are basic but grand for me they are too expensive for internet I recomment using the pay as you go internet its 69.00 to but the stick and then 19.99 depending on who you go with from there on in its just like you phone you top up when you are running low at least you wont have another bill.

Hey Ruth,

I spoke to Eamon Dolan the superintendent in Tallaght Garda Station and he advised me that the cut off time for the week nights is 11.30pm and on wkds its 12.30pm, and they said to me they cant do anything to get the music turned off but said for people to call them whenever all the screaming and shouting starts outside which is every night really isnt it, last night I let a roar at these guys because they were drinking right under my window and screaming and shouting the usual. Hope we can get it sorted as I am thinking of moving home at this stage.

Oh yes one more things Yvonne one of the neighbours approached Simon the manager of Captain Americas about the band on Monday before it all started during the day to ask him to have some consideration for the people in the apts, he told her that she was disturbing the people eating and that if she was stupuid enough to buy an apt in a mixed used development then that was her and all of ours fault and that would never buy in a place like Broadfield then he told her if she didnt stop shouting he would have her removed...she told him she was raising her voice because she was sleep deprived and he told her he didnt care it wasnt his fault. If it was me he would have been decked let me tell ya lol.....

jaysus that simon fella is a fecker... so is the manager matt. what block are you in TrebleT? i know that capitan americas are having a meeting in SDCC tomorrow, so ill let ye know of the outcome.
TrebleT hav eyou gotten in touch with Gillian in SDCC to get a log book? its the only way were gonna be able to arm ourselves if we do need to get a prosecution in court.
tried to contact the sgt in rathfarnham yesterday and left message will try again to find out exactly what kind of licence is held by them.

Ok guys ive an update from the meeting.

Matt the manager attended county hall today (and as you may well know by now i work in SDCC) the enviromental officer had a meeting with him. I was asked would I like to attend buy thought it would not be right as I cannot represent others in the building.

This is what has been relayed back to me:-

Sunday -Thursday
Music is to finish completly by 12am

Friday and Saturday
Music is to finish completely by 1am

Monday and Friday- Live band playing
Wednesday- Karaoke night

Every night table and chairs have to be moved in from the outside by 9pm
No drinks are allowed to be outside at all.

Two members of staff (with high viz vests) will be allocated everynight to move people on from the square after closing time.

The community guards were also in attendance and they said they will be carrying out spot checks on the premises esp withthe bank holiday weekend approaching. They will be doing plain clothes and uniformed checks.

The community guard for our area is Ruth Carey and I believe she wil in time contact the residents for a residence meeting.

everything I have outlined are preliminary arrangements that have been agreed and if tese dont work the local authority will take more steps.

Also i forgot to mention the manager has purchased a sound thingy too so he can monitor the reduce sound when its too loud.

Thanks for info on TV Trebel T I think I will go ahead with it. Also thanks Ruthie for your hard work on noise issue. We will see how it goes. I know I mentioned it before but does anyone have car space to rent. Let me know if you know of anyone who has one. If we get breakdown of how much we are paying for bins, we can claim tax credits for this. Will let you know when I find out. Welcome to newcomers

Hey neighbours. I've been looking into the sky conway problem. As countless people seem to be telling me not to sign up when i move in.

I've done some looking and most complexes that complain about sky conway seem to be going with skyhomes.ie. I think its like Sky's home division. How does everyone feel about these? If your interested. I think it would be good if you (also) popped off a query form showing your interest giving the address. Ill let you all know if i hear anything.

Hi All, I moved in a few weeks ago and I just wanted to thank you for all the info that you have posted on the site. I was just wondering if anyone has a number of who to contact about fixing things in the block. My light outside my door had been broken since i moved in and i was assured it would be fixed but here we are 5 weeks later and no sign of it being done. All has anyone had any problems with their heating?
