Looked at some free standing wood pellet stoves over the week end- they are supposedly very clean, and need no pipe up the wall- a small pipe from the back out through the wall is all required.

It is for a very large sunroom/conservatory so didint want any unsightly pipes etc- was just wondering if the heat produced was ok in anyones experience? Also wondering if they were economical on wood pellets etc

The internet is wonderfull, have a look at www.sht.at and www.rika.at they are efficient and the wood pellets are well priced at present and freely availble, you can also get log stoves if you like.

I recommend before you buy have a look around to see what is available and be prpared before you buy that you have some knowledge, as this most definitely will help and work in your favour.

We have a wood pellet stove for space heating as we have geothermal as our main heating system. The underfloor heating takes a while to warm up so the wood pellet stove is perfect for heating our large living room in the evening.
Any problems with the stove will more than likely originate with the pellets themselves. It's crucial that they are the best quality otherwise it's not worth having it. Ours are bagged as we don't use a lot and cost about €3 per bag and we would use 2 bags in a week during the winter.
The only drawback is that the stove has an integrated fan which can make a bit of whirring noise, but you quickly get used to it.
