Hi Am looking for assistance. Have looked at two stoves.. The Nestor Martin S23 and the Stanley Tara stove. There is significant difference in the cost and I cannot understand what the difference is between the two please... I only want both to heat one room - not radiators.

Thanks,

Which is most expensive?

We have a Nestor Martin similar to the one you have listed for a number of years and can't fault it. It is as good as the day we bought it. We burn peat briquettes in it. I would recommend going for the non matt finish stove - costs a few quid extra but way easier to keep clean.

There probabaly both equaly good, a good way to make up your mind is, is it local and if something goes wrong where do the spare parts have to come from. What stove do you find most appealling as it is a purchase that is there for a long time, and you are looking at it in your living room or kitchen. What do the two do differently, does one have more technology that the other, make a list and then decide.

Leex the stanley is about 1k and the Nestor Martin is approx 1700.. so 700k in difference. They both have the same output and will heat the same room. The Stanley is slightly more traditional but that is ok..
The NM has efficiency of 73% but I dont know what the efficiency of the Stanley is.

Its for my sis in law... I was looking at a nestor martin cause I have one (ultra modern one) but she is lookin for a more traditional one..

Thanks for the replies.

700euro would buy a lot of fuel. Stanley have a good name for years here also - hard to go wrong with it assuming it's output rating is similar to the NM.

Recently purchased as Nestor Martin Stanford (€1200) after a toss up between Stanley, Mulberry and NM. NM was a bit more expensive but we thought the design was a little more contemporary and would suit the room better. We also like the side-loading feature - a great help when you have little ones and require a fireguard. Can load up the stove through the side door by reaching over the guard without having to remove it completely.

Have you looked at any others, I looked them both up seems to me the Stanley is good value for money both are solid fuel the Stanley gives 8 Kw and the Nestor 6 kw (according to the web sites) € 700.-- is a lot of fuel, as leex pointed out. Make sure whomever in stalls it checks if there is enough fresh air supply in the room.
