Hi, this question is two fold. Firstly I have a small amount of money that I am trying to put by each month for emergencies (used for hols, christmas or unexpected expenses etc.). I access this quite infrequently - about 3 times a year. Currently I save in my local credit union, but I want to see if there is a better saving scheme for me.
Secondly, we have put by the childrens allowance since they were born with the post office saving bond. This has matured after 5 years for one of my kids and I need to put it somewhere. This fund will not be accessed until kids go to college hopefully, so this is a longer term saving plan.
I really get bamboozled by the many options available. Is there a web site that might simplify this for me or at least help me research and compare the different options. Or perhaps I should get some professional advise, but from whom?
Your help is appreciated.
