Would it not make more sense for this person to call to houses on the road you are currently working on at the same time?
In other words, if you are doing windows on Wilson Road on a Monday morning, she should canvass that road on the Monday morning.
You better make sure that some bloke doesn't apply for the job and then sue you under the Employment Equality Act.
The simple fact is that when a woman calls to the house they are more inclined to get a warm response than a man doing it.

Why don't you advertise in the local shop ?
I meant why dont you advertise for the cold caller - in the local shops - ie someone who will call around at the doors for you !
Just don't say in the advertisement that you are looking for a "woman or a girl" unless you have plenty of cash for a successful claim against you.
Hi SLF, long time no see.
Since what you're talking about is someone with an engaging manner and effective "natural" sales skills, have you looked around your immediate circle of neighbours/friends of friends, etc.? Somebody that you know vaguely just might be interested in earning a few quid in the evenings, and that way you wouldn't waste time interviewing "randomers" responding to an ad.
I look around my kids' friends and see a lot of bright, articulate, educated young women (and men) who are a year or two out of college and still scratching for a decent job or working only part-time/temp positions. There are also plenty of slightly older people who, like everyone nowadays, are squeezed for cash, whether working or not, and wouldn't mind . And arguably a slightly more mature person might have an edge in terms of instilling confidence in the professionalism of the service.
Good luck with the venture.
