Where to find a cold caller?

Apologies if I have this in the wrong forum.

I've been trying to find someone to do some cold calling for me.

I want to set up a window cleaning round so the plan is to get preferably a woman or a girl to call to houses for me in the evening time to arrange the business for myself for the following day.

Where would I find someone like that.

There would be a comission rate per house.

Would it not make more sense for this person to call to houses on the road you are currently working on at the same time?

In other words, if you are doing windows on Wilson Road on a Monday morning, she should canvass that road on the Monday morning.

You better make sure that some bloke doesn't apply for the job and then sue you under the Employment Equality Act.

How are you Brendan?

I used to cold call when I started off doing windows, spent all day calling to end up with 2 houses and a lot of ringing bells.

So in order to maximize the time spent actually working I'd call the previous night and organise the work before hand.

I got a got a woman time ago to do it for me she got 10 houses in one night.

I was calling at the same time she was and I got 3.

She had no experience at all of cold calling.

I'd done it for far longer than she had.

The simple fact is that when a woman calls to the house they are more inclined to get a warm response than a man doing it.

I am a huge fan of equal rights but the reality is that the general population is not.

If anyone doubts me I suggest you try cold calling at night

I even find myself when answering the door I feel a bit safer when it is a woman there.

*looks about

This place hasn't changed much since I was here last time.

.

I think that you might be right, but it is against the law, as I understand it.

Why don't you advertise in the local shop ?

Thanks for responding Alexandra, but advertising in a local shop will not organise work for me.

If I want a full day of work I have to have people lined up not to be waiting by the phone for it to ring

I meant why dont you advertise for the cold caller - in the local shops - ie someone who will call around at the doors for you !

Just don't say in the advertisement that you are looking for a "woman or a girl" unless you have plenty of cash for a successful claim against you.

Hi SLF, long time no see.

Since what you're talking about is someone with an engaging manner and effective "natural" sales skills, have you looked around your immediate circle of neighbours/friends of friends, etc.? Somebody that you know vaguely just might be interested in earning a few quid in the evenings, and that way you wouldn't waste time interviewing "randomers" responding to an ad.

I look around my kids' friends and see a lot of bright, articulate, educated young women (and men) who are a year or two out of college and still scratching for a decent job or working only part-time/temp positions. There are also plenty of slightly older people who, like everyone nowadays, are squeezed for cash, whether working or not, and wouldn't mind . And arguably a slightly more mature person might have an edge in terms of instilling confidence in the professionalism of the service.

Good luck with the venture.

Ah I'm sorry now I see what you are talking about.

I may try that approach, thank you.

Thanks for the advice.

Are there any sites you can think of which I could advertise for free for someone?

PS this place has not changed at all really

How's you doing?
