Where should self directed pension funds be invested? S&P? World? Emerging?

As a spin off to another thread, I'm curious what your thoughts are on this. Our pension is 100% in the S&P500. It seems people differ on where they invest their pension funds, some sugesting more of a world mix, maybe some think emerging markets should be in there too.

What is the "ideal" solution/mix in your mind? Obviously its dependent on age, but lets say for someone with 20-30 years until retirement?

30 years from retirement, I would go for a simple world equity tracker. Not a fan of EM funds.

I would also plan to have approximately 10 years’ worth of anticipated annual expenditure in cash or bonds at retirement
