He'll still top the poll down in Limerick next Election Day
That's why there's no pressure on him to step down.
Thats for election as a TD and is seperate. The people of Limerick don't decide for the rest of us who we want as Minister of Defence.
It is separate to some extent.
To be forced to resign you need to be expendable.
O'Dea isn't expendable because he effectively brings in 2 FF seats in Limerick East.
The last thing Cowen wants to do is force one of the biggest vote-getters in the country to resign against his wishes and potentially result in him standing as an independent in the next election.

I agree but that's where the Greens come in. If FF won't do the right thing for political reasons, then the Greens have to take to a stand or else they sign their own death warrant as a political party if they haven't done so already.
Well their chariman Dan Boyle reckons he should resign but it looks like the green TDs don't agree with him. Sounds like they want to have their cake and eat it.
A bit too much high moral ground here. What of his performance as a minister? Nearly every other minister has had serious issues from Finance to Education to Health etc. etc. But Defence has been admirable. When were we last attacked by a foreign power?

"Resigned" is being kind. This particular type of joker was left in no doubt that the high jump was staring him in the face otherwise. The truest words he spoke in the past 24 hours were that he "also was a victim". Clairvoyance at it's best. But I feel sorry for the people of Limerick city who have seen social deprevation accelerate under his watch.[broken link removed]
It seems he has broken the mould and become the first senior minister to resign in recent times
I agree we shuda nuked them for that but I blame the Greens that we don't do nukes.you must have forgotten his total lack of response to Henry's magic hand - France is still standing
