Washing machine service will only accept CC payment?

Hi all,

I rang this morning to get my washing machine serviced as it has broke down and they have told me they will only accept credit card payments over the phone when placing the order.
Im a bit annoyed by this as I dont have a credit card. Is this the usual way of paying for these types of things? And can they legally only offer me one way to pay?
 
I can't see how they can be legally obliged to provide you with a service, so if you don't agree with their terms, you can take your business elsewhere.

Leo the parts are still under gaurantee so its only the call out charge that I have to pay for otherwise I would definatly go somewhere else.
 
Indesit by any chance !Just ask to speak to a manager they will get auth for payment by cash or cheque. Happenned to me recently

Ah, didn't realise that. Interesting one, perhaps they have been burned in the past so now require card payment up front.
 
Good news for me, I fixed the washing machine. I plugged it out and now its working again so now I dont need to get anyone out.

What was the fix - plugging out and plugging back in?
