Was there a low Turnout?

There are continued, persistent problems wit the registers.

Register could be off by 500,000 names - commission

For starters, I got 2 polling cards this time, no idea why, both to the same address.

Registers are dependent on each county, doesn't seem to be centralised at all and I'd say a fair few people on their are dead. I'm not sure how often it gets updated with the list of dead people in the county.

Both I'd venture. I suspect that a lot of younger people didn't bother to vote.
In fairness, a Friday probably didn't help, especially for those away in college and having to travel home for it. Hence why I think it should be over 2 days. Although I presume that would mean Gardai and/or the Army would have to protect each polling station over night

If some TD or Minister could table a motion that the voting age should be raised to thirty-five thereby denying the vote to all those under thirtyfive, I guarantee we’d have an immediate increase in election turnout.

But it won’t stop those who didn’t vote from complaining about the election result or the decisions made by whatever Government emerges.
