Boundaries are based on total population (Census) data, not just those registered to vote. Are the registers used for re setting boundaries ?
When I was a boy in West Belfast SF had the cemetery vote sewn up.Registers are dependent on each county, doesn't seem to be centralised at all and I'd say a fair few people on their are dead.
Both I'd venture. I suspect that a lot of younger people didn't bother to vote. Was there really a low turnout or is the electoral register hopelessly out of date?
In fairness, a Friday probably didn't help, especially for those away in college and having to travel home for it. Hence why I think it should be over 2 days. Although I presume that would mean Gardai and/or the Army would have to protect each polling station over nightBoth I'd venture. I suspect that a lot of younger people didn't bother to vote.
