I testdrove a 1.6 back in around January and I came away very impressed even though the 1.6 was a little slow. I was about to order one until I found out that there was a limited supply and that only the T5 and D5 were the only models availible in Geartronic. It drove very well, not as fun as the Focus that it shares it's underpininngs but still quite decent handling and precise steering. The salesman gave me a list of factory pre ordered cars and told me that you could choose only the cars that are availible, meaning that I couldn't order one to my desired specification. Residuals are actually supposed to very high, more than 50% is predicted to be retained after 3 years or 60k miles. The reason that T5 is so cheap is because it is the least desirable model in the range, it drinks petrol, has high road tax and is more expensive than more accomplished rivals like the Golf GTI and the Focus ST which shares it's engine. Reviews have been fairly positive so far with the exception of the T5. Also remember that Volvo deserves recognition in the prestige segment, they are a brand who's image is on the up with each consecutive model launched.
