Volvo C30

A nice car, but in the real-world most people with that kind of money will Buy a German 3 door offering.

I expect to see few examples of the Volvo on Irish roads, they'll be driven by competition winners, and the wives of Volvo dealership owners (cost price ex demo models).

I thought they were very nice looking and thought about changing to it, but when I went to the showroom thought they were very small especially the boot. For someone that does alot of traveling and thus trips to the airport didn't think there was much room for one suitcase let alone two.
I have two family members who have owned volvos (one still has theres) but they say they will not buy volvo again.

I testdrove a 1.6 back in around January and I came away very impressed even though the 1.6 was a little slow. I was about to order one until I found out that there was a limited supply and that only the T5 and D5 were the only models availible in Geartronic. It drove very well, not as fun as the Focus that it shares it's underpininngs but still quite decent handling and precise steering. The salesman gave me a list of factory pre ordered cars and told me that you could choose only the cars that are availible, meaning that I couldn't order one to my desired specification. Residuals are actually supposed to very high, more than 50% is predicted to be retained after 3 years or 60k miles. The reason that T5 is so cheap is because it is the least desirable model in the range, it drinks petrol, has high road tax and is more expensive than more accomplished rivals like the Golf GTI and the Focus ST which shares it's engine. Reviews have been fairly positive so far with the exception of the T5. Also remember that Volvo deserves recognition in the prestige segment, they are a brand who's image is on the up with each consecutive model launched.

Not a bad car at all. Not cheap though. Do they do a flexi fuel version?

Just wondering has anyone got any views on the new 3 door from Volvo ? Have just seen one here and think its got a lot going for it.
I had this as a hire care a couple of weeks ago. I drove from Germany across to Belgium and back. I thought it was a great car. Very comfortable and surprisingly economical. The interior was well designed. I was a little surprised because my preference is always for saloon cars.
Graham...did you decide on this car or something else in the end?
