Virgin Box and the BBC Record function

You would need to be on the not full fibre Virgin Media Network so you would be using the old co-axial cable but yes if you got a 360 main box you would then be able to record BBC. Your only chance would be if you still had a 360 box and they could 'swap' it in for you but they won't do that. They only send out the streaming boxes now to everybody.
My former perfectly fine box was taken away by their technician. I’m just raging that I didn’t investigate further before agreeing to the whole thing but I was very much assured that the package would remain the same as ever with the only difference being the neater box with less cables.
Scammers!

Channel your annoyance into a combi box . Yes it's might require a bit more upskilling/upfront cost but after that it's just the cost of electricity. It of course depends on your viewing habits but for BBC (and basic UK TV) I can't fault it.

You could go down the Sky route, hopefully with no big 'installation' charges.
Dump them after a year and then use Freesat plus some terrestrial channels solution?

What with the cooling off period ticking, I’m under pressure but will look into both SkyQ and Freesat tomorrow. Only spotted this problem yesterday when other half went to record MotD. And SkyQ doesn’t have Virgin channels which means no missing some Champions League games. Another dilemma!

You can add Sports channels to SkyQ to get the CL matches.
In a year's time, if you do what I suggest in post 23, you can use NOW TV to stream Sports channels and others much cheaper than SkyQ.

Those affected by this should complain to the wasters in the Consumer protection and Competition Commission.

It would never occur to me in a month of Sundays when offered an upgrade to ask "Will I still be able to record programmes?" It's like buying a car and finding that there is no steering wheel and being told by the car salesman that you should have checked.

They are deliberately withholding key information from their customers and they should be made to return all of those who wish to back to the 360 Box.
