i have been with VHI for many a year on a company policy.
PMI 01 10
this covers myself (55), wife (50), son (22, just finished college), daughter 18(6th year secondary)
Touch wood, all healthy. no major claims bar GP visits.
Company pays fully and I pay BIK via payroll. current premium 5,250 approx.

Am been made redundant at the end of Nov so need to take out a policy in my own name.

i want to stick with VHI. I had a look and they have some many policy's. Never had to do it myself as the company always looked after it.

based on age profile what "value for money / bang for your buck" policy's would people recommend. (including the 2 kids)

Hi Joe,

The cover was not great on that policy PMI0110 considering the premium is high.

At week-end Charlie Weston quoted Dermot Goode, www.totalhealthcover.ie as recommending VHI's PMI4316 (see comparison above) and for a premium of €1,455.80 for an adult it seems better value but there are quite a number of excesses.

You could have a listen to the podcasts here with Dermot Goode giving advice.

Speak to VHI and get their recommendation and have a read of Dermot Goode's website and the HIA one for advice also. Doing your homework and familiarising yourself with health insurance in general can save €.
