VHI - can I change from family to individual

Hi all,

Am currently still on my dad's VHI scheme and am paying €100 per month to him for it. My parents and I are all on the Plan D scheme. Am I right in thinking we are paying too much for the policy? €100 a month to me sounds like a lot?

Also, does anyone know would it be a problem for me to change to my own individual scheme? My worry would be that I would lose cover for some length of time??

There is no problem moving to your own scheme, just give them the old details when you sign up, and your cover will be continuous. I believe this also applies if you decide to go with someone other than VHI.

It sounds like your parents are giving you a good deal at €100 a month, plan D costs a whopping €1800 a year!!
