Hi guys,

Just fyi if you are currently on three and get good reception you can get similar service on 48 cheaper with all you can eat data (incl 5g) and minutes to call people etc.
I was paying 20 euro per month for broadband in an unlocked 5g router I got from the UK on Amazon:
https://amzn.eu/d/gXKPXwH (you put the SIM into the router just like it was a phone and it broadcasts the internet out like a normal WiFi router, I've been doing this for over a decade with a number of different routers etc)

Three I think charge you 30 euro per month for the same thing but give you the router (which may be locked to three, I don't know).

Anyway, I recently changed to SIM only PAYG on 48 for 12.99 a month with auto top up. 48 are a virtual network operator so use the exact same network infrastructure as 3 etc and I believe are operated by 3 (essentially just a different brand name I think). If you have a legacy 3 plan where you get to keep the credit and use it to buy things like netflix,Disney it might not be worth switching but otherwise I don't see any reason not to.

Be aware that several people on the 48 forum are reporting that their 48 SIM in a 5G router seems to be throttling speeds after a while. E.g.:
48 haven't clarified if this is policy and the terms and conditions don't mention it.

It will be locked to their network.

48 is indeed a subsidiary of 3.

That's interesting Clubman, didn't realise there was a 48 forum so apologies if I should have posted there. I've not noticed any dip in performance on speedtests but have not been using 48 for long yet. I still have my three SIM, just didn't top it up this month so I suppose worst case scenario I can always just put it back in the router.
