Value of Human life

I think when a situation is so bad a lot of people find it difficult to even bring themselves to contemplate it never mind discuss it.

Unfortunately the intrinsic value of human life is not universally recognised. This gives rise to a myriad of despicable acts.

Imagine the headlines if this had happened in Europe or America?
Imagine if the little girl was white?

Then we'd care.

Indeed. I don't think it's that we don't care or that it's a race thing. Child abduction, trafficking, labour, abuse, rape and murder are prevalent in India. It could be a headline every day if it was reported widely here.

We probably have enough tragedies on our plate.

Plus, it doesn't fit with the narrative in certain sections of the media that there is no progress in western countries and it is some unique hell for women.
