Its the same everywhere! Some are okay others are not!! Normal Joe Soaps would cheer Ireland on but you'll always get the misinformed "No Surrender to the IRA" muppets who hate Ireland for no reason.
You get good and bad everywhere!!
 
It's the same in other countries

The irish cheering when their neighbour loses is not unique to us. I have worked extensively throughout Europe and it is the same everywhere,

The Swiss cheer when germany lose
English cheer when the French lose
Denmark cheer when Sweden lose who in turn cheer when Norway lose.

So long as it is good natured and not vindictive then I don't see the problem.
