Hi,

Civil servant here, POST 95, 8 years service so far.

I will be placed on TRR payment shortly as I have exhausted my sick leave.

My TRR has been calculated as 18,343.54e and I will be placed on this from 24.01.25 until I resume duty or until such time as TRR is exhausted.

How to calculate what I will receive (net) pay?

Also, would I be entitled to any social welfare payments while off work?

Thank you in advance,
Pete

@niceoneted thank you, I entered that amount into the calculator.

It came out as 351e per week, I am not sure if that is correct? Very difficult to figure out how much I will receive.

That's about right - unless you have other income sources such as Social Welfare payments, casual labour

Thanks jpd, I assume that's gross per week? Really terrible at this, should really be on top of it more . As I'm out sick, don't want the added stress of having no money. I don't also expect employers to pay full amounts. I could manage on 350e a week if that's after tax!

Your tax credits will cover the income tax on earnings up to €20,000 per year. There's no PRSI if your weekly earnings are under €352. There will be about €3.50 of USC due per week if this payment is liable to USC but that's all.

Hi again, thanks for the replies above.

May I ask, how does illness benefit work in my scenario? I have been awarded IB (confirmed amount is 232pw) , does this payment go to my employer or does it come to me? I am confused about this. I am sure it is relatively straightforward but if somebody here can shed light please?

To clarify:

Civil Servant -
6+ years service so far -
Class A PRSI -
TRR Payments - 19,230e per annum (gross).
IB Payments - 232e per week.

My payslip has not run yet as I am paid fortnightly. I am trying to determine figures.

Thanks, Pete
