Got my Trading212 card finally today.

1.5% cashback until 1 November 2024.

0.5% cashback thereafter.

No monthly fee.

0.15% FX fee, true interbank rate.

4% deposit rate.

Not bad! Better than the AIB Platinum cashback offer.

@Lightning Just wondering, are they already sending their card in Republic of Ireland? I'm on the waiting list in ROI. Thanks.

Yeah, I'm in the Republic of Ireland and I have got my card. I guess you're in some queue.

All going well so far. Cashback arrives in your account about 2 days after the transaction.

Btw, in case everyone is interested, Trading212 told me that they plan to rollout card for all waiting participants in Republic of Ireland by the end of this month.

I have been on the waiting list for a long time and every month they promise it will be ready by the end of the followng month.

Yup, I’ve asked them specifically about end of rollout and they said their internal date as the end of rollout end of this month. Let’s see.

What is covered by the cashback exactly. A lot of what is excluded seems sensible enough and just covers using the card to transfer cash or fund cash like accounts which is fair enough. Some of the things excluded seen vague enough though and could cover a lot of things

My excitement about the cashback was premature! I was feeling less bitter about paying health insurance only to have payment declined with the Trading 212 virtual card. Now that I know I won't get cash back I'll use a bog standard card. In addition, Apple Pay is only available in the UK for now, so unless you've a physical card, limited opportunities to use it.

Interesting. T212 card works with Google Pay. I have used the card for multiple purposes without any issues thus far.

Excluded merchants for cashback

...

Insurance

Code: 6300
  • Payments for personal or business insurance policies such as automobile, life, health, hospital, medical and dental insurance, homeowners and renters insurance, real estate title insurance, pet health insurance and flood, fire or earthquake insurance.

The above explains why cashback is not provided with health insurance but MoolaMgr's issue seems to be that the payment, rather than the cashback, was declined.

So I tested this out last night with my Netflix subscription and it gets tagged with the utilities exclusion. So this is a bit unsatisfactory. Wasting spending on the T212 card only to later find out that I could have gotten 1% saveback with Trade Republic if I'd used that instead.
