Did the commute from Monasterevin to Park west for about 2 years 35 mins to Newlands cross and about the same for the last 5 mile.If you are going to Tallaght the new section of the outer ring road should be open soon.It will let you take the kingswood interchange and bring you out in Tallaght which will mean you don't have to go near Newlands cross/City west.
