at the top right-ish corner, it says thread tools with a drop down list, next to thread search.

see your name at the very top right hand corner? a couple of lines under that.

Funniest thread in a long time!:D It's no surprise why this country is in the state it is!

Just as an aside, I'd like to commend scarymary. The OP has had a quick fix suggested to her, she has decided to seek advice on whether it is a good idea and has taken the advice given. Nice to see someone responding to a genuine negative in a responsible fashion :)

Of course I have I GENUINELY did not realise how awful a remortgage is even though I was assured that there is nothing wrong with it if you back yourself up. The self righteousness and smugness here is beginning to get a bit boring.................. mind you don't fall off your pedestals at some stage in your lives.

Ah now Mary! Do you need to be told what is right and what is wrong? It is your apparent willingness to persuade your parents to re-mortgage their home to bail you out that is most shocking and then because you are told by a bunch of strangers on the internet you realise it's a bad idea! A bit of self-awareness may be useful.By the way, inform yourself a bit better about what is really going on in the world before you go buying anything.
Now excuse me while I get back on my pedestal.

Obviously you need this forum to put yourself up there in the first place......assuring yourself how wonderful you are must be great for ya!!

I must inform the admin that I can't close this thread I only have a printable option, an email option and a subscribe option on my drop down thread tools list.

Unless I am missing something which i humbly accept I might be.

I saw scarymary's post and my first reaction to think that it was a bad idea. But I read on, saw that other people were saying that, and that scarymary was heeding their advice. No need for me to preach to the converted.

I am shocked, however, by the advice OP got from her friend:
She had said to me you can transfer the house into your own name, give your parents a life interest and remortgage it.
It's a way of seeing and doing things that could be very damaging in a number of ways, and I am alarmed at the thought that it might be the sort of conversation that is commonplace among twenty-somethings.

well actually shes 34 - the girl telling me about it. She said loads of parents were doing it or releasing equity for their kids and its an unsaid thing but it was totally fine but that some people have a bad reaction to it. I suppose I can be impressionable and I put my hand up and say yes there is a lot more I need to know about the whole thing, mortages etc.

Funny enough I didn;t reallly have a good feeling about it so I went on this forum.

Ummm - I was actually being nice. So many people don't like to be told no - it is refreshing to see someone accept it. And since several posters had re-iterated the point and decried your original post while ignoring your positive responses I wanted to say well done. Sorry if it sounds like it came from a pedestal - it didn't.

sorry so crates I was talking about Lord Snooty's smug comment. Thank you for the nice posts!!
