The brilliant Magpies

I'd say that 250,000 would last longer in Newcastle than London , besides if a player is good enough he could be transferred after a few years to another club for more money..

The problem is that teams like Newcastle have to pay higher wages than their more illustrious rivals to attract top quality players.

Notwithstanding the wealth of the current owners, they are precluded from spending the necessary to do so.

Unless and until the rules are changed, they will find it almost impossible to operate consistently at the highest level.

Location has been an issue for some clubs far from London. Not always the player, but the significant other. For Newcastle and Liverpool there's also an additional layer to the language barrier.

It may be grim up North but Sunderland, Middlesbrough & Newcastle in particular seem to have no problem attracting player from sunnier climes.
Newcastle currently have two excellent Brazilians in Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton and until recently Almiron from Paraguay and Fernandez from Argentina.
Nobby Solano from Peru , Asprilla from Colombia who was brilliant on his day just like Mirandinha.
The Argentinian Colliccini who captained the team for years .
And who could forget our own Daryl Murphy from the Sunny South East ?
Sunderland signed a host of lesser talented Soth Americans , only Julio Arca really excelled .
‘Boro famously recruited Juninho and Emerson .
