The BNP

BNP to be investigated

Now here's a bunch of individuals who really make me angry. Fear and ignorance dressed up as politics. I really hope they get charged with incitement to hatred or something. Their views are even more detrimental to society given the current wave of Islamophobia that seems to be rearing its ugly head not only in Britain but in Ireland too.

You have to admit that their Keep Ireland Irish/Eire (sic.) First Fund campaign was quite funny and not a little ironic though:

Oh my god :\

It sounds a bit like those White Power activists you see on the Jerry Springer show from time to time!!

Plenty of fodder for racists in this glorious republic though.

Just look at some of the comments made in the meeeja about asylum seekers, or witness the rise in support for SFIRA at the last election.

SFIRA supporters have long had the slogan "Brits out". Replace the word Brits with Blacks / Jews / Gays, and you can see that we can't afford to be complacent in this country.

NoelC,

What are you on?
What the BNP and Sein Fein have in common is very little - basically they dislike certain groups of people. This is for very different reasons.

I never heard of an Blacks/Jews/Gays coming to Ireland, taking it over for their own and treating the rest of us as second class citizens.
Sein Fein are NOT anti-British. They want a united Ireland. Simple!

Sein Fein are NOT anti-British.

Hmmm, tell it to the the hundreds of GB and NI children that SFIRA have left orphaned solely because they are British. Many of the murdered were just innocent shoppers in Warrington, or Manchester, or worshippers in Enniskillen.

The worst part is that these atrocities occurred in the name of all Irish people.

I agree with you, however, that SFIRA share the BNP's policies of racial contempt and hatred.

You have to hand it to Nick Griffin though - looks like their post documentary strategy is to deny any accusations of racism and rabble rousing on the part of the organisation, blame the BBC and leftie infiltrators/agents provocateurs for adopting entrapment techniques, and to dare the authorities into taking action to arrest or charge him and other members on the basis of statements and allegations made in the programme thus banking on lots of publicity and a public martyrdom to the cause. They might be idiots but they're not stupid!

I agree.

The staggering thing is the support these people have. I heard some figures on the news this morning about them but can't remember now...sorry. Needless to say it was a remarkably high figure.

I don't think the BNP will really garner much political support outside certain northern towns, but what is much more concerning is the rise of the UKIP, who Michael Howard described as the BNP in suits.

With the clementine coloured face of Kilroy-Silk leading them, their far more subtly racist policies could really gain ground in this part of Europe.

BNP and UKIP support

Hi folks,

The BNP level of support is a bit worrying (8 and 6.5% in the two Euro constituencies contested in the NW).

However, the figure is inflated somewhat by the appalling turnout overall (Less than 40%?).

On the plus side, they did lose one or two council seats too though.

As N0elC say I'd be a little more worried about UKIP - however, they are in the main (apart from Kilroy-Silk who was a Labour MP -resigned over Militant infiltration in his constituency ie did sod all about it!!) from the little Englanders club in the Conservative party. If thery 're seen to be ineffective, then they will lose support - after all they have only one policy.

The only good thing about UKIP is that they'll keep the Conservatives out at the next General Election. Mr Blair must be fancying his chances of winning the next election, even allowing for the poor by-election results last night.

Sinn Fein

Its entertaining how the same small cadre of contributors are always queuing to have a dig at SF when given the chance. Where are the masses of people out there who agree with them? I see plenty of evidence the threads are being read by people via the 'VIEW' statistics, but few bother to respond to them.
Perhaps, given the general lack of interest, and the recent SF gains in the local elections, the general public don't find SF to be as objectionable as you do Piggy (et al).

When you want to drag SF and NI politics into the race relations forum, don't forget a bit of balance usually adds to a debate. Many Irish people find the overt and arrogant racism of the Orange Order a lot more objectionable. Next time, if you want to be taken seriously, start the Orange Racism Thread first.

Jeeze, during the last SF debate I was accused (hilariously) of being a SF supporter.
Now, I'm being accused of being anti-SF!!!

Regardless of what my views on them are maybe you'd care to actually stick to points being made by specific contributors...unless you're just trolling of course.

In actual fact, I think this particular post is the first time I've written the words Sinn Fein.

It just goes to show how closely you're reading people's opinions before jumping on them.

Piggy

Right then Piggy,I take it you are a SF supporter. Good on you. I should have referred the comment to NoelC who started the sidetracking attack on SF.

Re: Piggy

No...for the record I'm not a SF supporter in any way, shape or form. That is not the point and well you know it.

It's always helpful to read a post before making comment on it.

SF

Just giving you a wee 'poke' piggy.
Don't get your tail in a twist.
Trot along now.

Re: SF

You mean just showing us what your real intentions are more like.

Having a dig at someone for no other reason than you're trolling.
