Hamas and Israel have negotiated and agreed a ceasefire deal. Hopefully from Sunday onwards a full cease-fire and the release of hostages to follow. Hopefully no more innocents slaughtered from today on.

Big win for the Trump. He seems to have been threatening Netanyahu and his hardliners who were blocking a deal. Let's see if he pulls the same trick with Ukraine. Hopefully Ireland will now back off its Land of Peaceniks, Saints and Scholars image now.

I don't see it that way, I just see it as a big win for those who won't be slaughtered needlessly. This isn't about politics, its about the lives of innocents. Maybe if it hadn't been used as a political football we'd have reached this stage sooner. Egos should have no part to play here.

Unfortunately it's all about politics.

I don't understand why a ceasefire is scheduled for a certain number of days ahead.
We live in an age where it takes the the speed of light to communicate the news to forces not to mention
in a theatre of war measuring less than twice the size of Achill Island.
I suspect that Israel wanted the date as far ahead as they could swing in order to fit in as much as much extra killing as possible

According to the news today, it doesn't matter as it's probably not going to happen

They're already off and running accusing each other of bad faith, breached agreements, the usual. I didn't get the name of the Israeli spokesman who appeared in a video clip on the RTE news. His description of Hamas sounded very like he was speaking about the IDF.

A wise man once told me to remember that when you point your accusing finger at someone, three of your fingers point back at you.

Their overnight actions would seem to bear this out. I'm sickened, more infant corpses on the news.

[EDIT] Don't get me wrong I abhor the slaughter of any innocent human being, but I find the sight of dead infants particularly upsetting.

It's hard to know which of the two protagonists to dislike more. Evil people on both sides who care not a bit about the dead in Gaza.
